Question…

How many parents allow their children to cycle unsupervised around their home streets without ever teaching them the basics of road safety?

Many parents feel compelled to teach their children to ride a bike and, once the child progresses to the point where they don’t need stabilizers, they feel their work is done.  The plain fact is that this is just the start – children need to be taught about the dangers of cycling and how to ride safely. Bikeability lessons (formerly Cycling Proficiency) only start when your child is in key stage 6 (at age 10 or 11) – we think this is far too late.

You wouldn’t let your child jump in to water without first teaching them how to swim – so why let them cycle round quiet streets without satisfying yourself that they have the skills to ride safely?

What is Skids?

Safe Kids – or Skids for short  is a cycle group specifically for children. We will teach your child the skills they need to confidently handle their bicycle whilst at the same time helping them to identify danger and to react to that danger accordingly.

We are affiliated to British Cycling and the Cyclists Touring Club (CTC) providing us with the support a thriving club needs. We are fully insured to provide extra security an peace of mind for you and your children.

Our Aim
